Day One – February 15

We’ll start with a meet-and-greet at Fretwater Boatworks at 5pm, go over how the course will run, and, time permitting, begin the lofting process.

How the Class Works

We’ll be working hands-on every day, covering the full range of boatbuilding tasks: lofting, shaping, sanding, gluing, fiberglassing, and painting. While the schedule is 9 to 5, some days may run later if we’re mid-way through a process that can’t be paused.

You’ll be working alongside a great team of experienced boatbuilders who are here to guide you through every step of the process. By the end of the course, our goal is for you to walk away with the confidence and skills to build a boat of your own.

No prior boatbuilding experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn, contribute, and get your hands dirty.

One Boat, One Winner

At the end of the course, one student will have the opportunity to take the finished Doryak home for the cost of materials. More details on that will come as we get closer to the end. Here’s a bit more about Doryaks: Doryak
